I found this site while planning a little backroads trip. It is for California, but you may have something similar where you live, or you may want to come out for a visit. It is designed for motocycles, but most of the roads would suit our cars very well.

This site covers virtually every decent backroad in the state. Click on any road and you will see pics of what it looks like along the way and also a map of exactly where the road is located. I've found it quite useful. As someone has said, "so many roads and so little time". Enjoy!

Great find. Lots of awesome twisty roads described on that site.

When I lived in San Diego I enjoyed cruising around on the many back country roads there. My favorite was listed on this site.

There was an awesome spot near the summit of Mt. Laguna. The FAA has a big RADAR facility there. The view was interesting. Looking west you could see the green pine trees and to the east the desert. The ridgeline separated the ecosystems.

There are lots cool scenic twisty drives around NW Oregon. They sure aren't documented like the ones in your neck of the woods.

I've seen that book and it is great. When I lived near San Diego I drove a couple of them. I always liked the drive into Palm Springs from the so called back side. Beautiful. Enjoy the ride.
