Hey hatchback owners - I have a 92lx hatch. Just had the seats reupholstered. Now they are back in the car, trying to figure out if the latch mechanism on the back of the backseats ever actually did anything? Seems to do nothing now, not sure if i reassembled something wrong? See pic of latch

Looks high. The latch on the seat back should catch a small bracket on the smaller lower portion

Here’s a closeup of the latch itself. Unfortunately too much stuff in my car now to get a close up of it latched

The bracket on the small seat portion needs to clip in under the catch on the left side

Hope these pictures help you also with 5L5s..... when the seat is pushed or pulled back hard, it locks in place on its own... to unlatch and fold the seat down you need to pull the top lever up with your fingers which then pulls the little latch up at the bottom (underneath the one your pulling up) . That little latch is locking to the bracket against the back piece so when that little piece moves up it unlatches.. it’s all about making that little latch go up and down..hope the pictures along with 5L5s help you.
