Okay, I have suspected that my clutch is going bad for a while now. Well today I ran the car from a stop with the window down, and on the 1-2 shift, the car doesn't surge ahead like it used to, no tire chirping either (and that's with 3.55s). Instead it just sort of drops rpms while slightly surging forward for about a half second before it starts revving up again. I also heard a sort of rub/hiss sound for that half second from the front of the car. I sounded like it's coming from right behind the engine. The clutch grabs good when I dump it from a stop, and it holds tight in every gear at full throttle, but on the 1-2 shift and even to a lesser extent on the 2-3 shift it does what I described above. I can't think of anything else but a worn clutch that needs to be replaced soon. The car has about 90K miles also...

Any opinions?

Those are some weird issues - not exactly congruitious with a slipping clutch. But if it is original with 90K, then it is about time.......

How it can not slip during a clutch dump burnout, WOT runs, etc, but cant hold during a 1-2 shift, is strange......

In any case, if the pedal is ajusted right, it should be a friction issue (clutch Disk, PP, flywheel) and renewal of those should take care of it.

Good luck.
