bad idle

since most of u guys seem to have problems with stripping threads on the spark plugs i decided to take em off to check em. i replaced my plugs about 3k miles ago and wanted to check today.well i checked em tightened em and removed the air silencer while i was at it.i put everything back everything seems ok.i turn it on and after taking it for a ride the car idles a little bad.it idles at 600 which is regular butit shakes i dont like it!!!what could i have forgotten or done wrong????any help??

well i went back and disconected the iac , put the air silencer back on disconnected the maf and put it back.checked everything else ,went around for a spin and and the idle is good again.i dont know what happened but everything is fine now.

What plugs did you put in 3k ago and did you blow the debris out of the plug wells before removing them to inspect them?

i put motorcraft platinums in, the spark plugs and the threads seem good. and no i didnt blow it off u think some debris fell down and caused it idle bad for a while??next time i check em im going to blow all the dirt out, is pretty clean but its better to be safe. BTW, how often should i check the threads on the plugs???

You do not need to check the threads per se. What you need to do is go back a few weeks after installing the plugs and make sure they are still torqued to spec, 13-17 foot pounds I believe. Do not actually remove them unless it is really necessary. Also, while doing this be sure to use silicone spray on the cop boots to clean and condition them and ensure a good water tight seal atthe top of the plug well. Also, be sure to use silicone dielectric grease on the spring end where it connects to the top of the spark plug to ensure a good electrical connection.
