bad s/c bearing on 2000 Saleen w/only 32K miles

I guy I know at work recently purchased a factory supercharged 2000 Saleen w/only 32K miles.

I haven't seen the car for a while and ran into him today and he said it's at MiddleKauf Ford in Frisco, TX because of a bad bearing on the supercharger. they're telling him he may have to replace the whole charger.

does anyone know about this problem....is it common...fixes for it....or is he screwed?
