I have a 94 Cobra and when I accelerate there is a really annoying and high pitched whining sound. If I had to guess I'd say its probably either the clutch or the gears but I'm not sure so I'm posting here. I really don't know how to describe the sound other than just "whining" so any help would be apprectiated.

Yeah, mine kinda has the whinning sound too

Usually a whinning sound is the tranny (especially if its particulary bad in a certain gear)... Good luck man.

Did you recently get a new belt, that happened to me because they gave me the wrong sized belt. I got the right belt and the whining under acceleration stopped. I know it's simple but i thought i would throw it out there.

You'd hear gear whine all the time. Bad tensioner pulley?

True, but if the sound was progressively worse in a certain gear, that would point to tranny. ya know?
But if it sounds exactly the same in every gear... i would look at the pulley system... does it do it revving in nuetral?

This is the best question so far. You need to find out whether it is engine or drivetrain related.

Good luck.

One of mine used to do that. Sounded like a power steering pump low on fluid, underneith the car..........ended up being the throwout bearing.

Ok guys, I'm back. I was playing around with the car last night and I figured out that the whining only DOES occur in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears. Also, it does NOT occur when the car is in neutral. Is there a chance that maybe its just a lose belt or something?

Its really aggravating because my car runs so beautifully other than this annoying whining.

Only doing it in certain gears points to a transmission issue. Change your fluid ASAP, and loook for signs of metal suspended in the old fluid. Once they get to this point, the damage is usually done already, and the whine is caused by excessive clearances between gears and bearings.
