Working on a stroker build, and need any input on a balancer/flywheel selection. Engine is a 5.0 stroked to 354 with 4340 eagle crank with internal balance.Looked at ATI and Romac balancers, but both of them were listed to fit '86-'93, I'm putting this in a 95 vert with tremec 500.Is the '94 -'95 balancer different? Is a spacer used for '94 -'95 applications? I was told the '86 -'93 model won't clear the timing cover. The car wont see much track time,so I won't be pushing it past 6000 rpm that often, but I want a decent product in case I do some mods later, I wont have to worry about it holding together. Any help would be appreciated.

I run a Romac...Only dif is 50oz imbalance for our SN95s vs 28oz for the Fox years...and your motors balanced to what??? I needed no spacers or the like...

Motor is internal 0 balance. I was looking at the frpp balancer online and they stated it wouldnt clear the timing cover on '94-'95. I guess the romac is shorter than the frpp. just want to make sure it fits with serp pulley/belt. where did you get yours from? price?

No problems on clearance on the timing cover for the Romac....Never heard it being an issue....

I got mine thru Corral classifieds...Someone stepping up...Had only a few 1/4 miles passes on it..

I didn't mean there was an issue with the romac with regards to clearance, just that frpp said theirs wouldn't clear on '94,'95. My builder suggeted ATI balancer, but it's another $100 more than the romac. I'm getting toward the end of the build and $'s are getting tight.

Thanks again for the input guys.

Fox 302's are the same as the 94/95 302's. All 50oz external balance.

I sold my old 50oz Romac I had on my car to a dude with a 94/95. I like the lightweight romacs but they will get some surface rust on them in some spots. They also fit VERY tight on aftermarket crankshafts. I had a hell of a time putting my 28oz romac on my scat crank!

If you have a 0 balance motor, you run a 0 balance balancer :) Hands down use a romac over a frpp balancer.

I think I paid about $350 when I bought mine. I shopped around too. That sounds like a good price.

Thank's guys, bought the romac,$259 and free shipping.....now for a flywheel:shrug: Aluminum? billet steel?
What are the pros and cons of aluminum?

Did you get the steel romac or the light weight steel/alum romac? Hopefully the light weight unit.

And you want an aluminum flywheel. Faster acceleration, faster rev's, less wear and tear on your crankshaft. Love mine :nice:

i would go with a romac balancer and a fidanza flywheel. it is the combo i have had on both of my stangs for years with no problems. it isnt the cheapest combo to go with but in my eyes it is by far the best.

Yes, it is the aluminum outer ring, light weight Romac. I'm going to hold off on the flywheel for right now until I get the old motor out and see what the previous owner(just bought the car last month) had installed on it. He told me he put a Zoom kevlar clutch in about 4k miles ago. IF it has removeable weights and is in decent shape ,I'll just stick with it, be it steel or aluminum. I sure appreciate all the suggestions, thanks.:nice:
