Hey guys,

I'm looking at buying underdrive pulleys, and i'd like to replace the balancer at the same time. i'm currently running the stock balancer on a 331. I have the card from Eagle (where my rotating assembly is from) listing all the weights that my parts are balanced to. what type of balancer should i get? Will the card tell me what balancer i need? in ounces?

thanks for the help

A stock 5.0 is 50oz., and most aftermarket strokers are 28oz..

The card should say, and if it doesn't you may want to contact Eagle.

As for what brand/kind to get, Romac seems to be popular, as are pieces from TCI and Pioneer. There is also the matter of being SFI approved, but that doesn't mean that it won't wear the same.

This was a recent thread on the matter...http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=741371

seems like most strokers are the 28oz but that card should tell you what you need. The stock balancer is 50oz, i dont think you should be driving the car with the stock 50oz piece if your rotating assembly requires a 28oz. I think it could hurt the engine, not sure how serious of a problem this could cause though. A pioneer balancer is great and affordable.

what info on the card would tell me what size balancer i need? it lists the crankshaft was balanced to the following weights: piston, piston pin, piston rings, pin locks, total rod, insert, rotary, reciprocating, and bob weight. i didn't see it specificing 28oz or 50oz on there anywhere! Also, should i look at changing the flywheel too? I'm running the stocker there as well
