balljoints good or bad

I have an 88LX. I'm trying to find out if the balljoints need to be replaced or if they are good. How do you check for this. The wear indicators are flush with the bottom of the lower a-arm....I've been told that this means they are bad but the car handles fine. Are than any ways I can check them?

With the wear indicators, there is not much else you can do. The usual push pull testing wont work properly. If in doubt, I would replace them myself.
