My 90lx w aod has a bad rear main. I'm needing to get it fixed and I'd like to have a converter I've had sittin round while I'm at it. What would y'all suspect labor cost would be on somethin like that?

A lot of labor for a $13 seal. It was the very first fix I did on my car when I bought it.

It's a good chunk of change with an auto. Manual is not as bad, but the auto is pretty tight in there. Usually the converter is swapped with a new transmission. If there is any crap in the transmission fluid, it ends up messing up the converter.

So.... Swapping out a converter isn't a good idea when doing rear main???

You can do it, but if you ever intend to have the transmission redone, now is the time to do it.

Converter and trans should always be swapped together unless you know FOR SURE that your trans is OK internally.

It's like putting brand new heads on a dirty junky ass knocking engine, you can do it but why

Save up some money and have someone do a trans job and rear main seal at the same time.
