My car is in overall good condition, only dmg is in the rear dirver side quarter panel, i would say worth about 1 hour of labor then a couple of minor dings on the door which is probably about another hour. Then the paint around my gas cap door is really messed up. Neways i got a quote from macco for the "presidental" option and it came out to $1067 it consisted of a color change, repainting the moldings black, and 250 for body work. I plan on going to a couple other shops tomorrow to get some more quotes. Does that sound like a good price?

LOOK INTO MABYE GETTING YOUR (caps, sorry) own paint and have them paint it. it'd cut down on cost and improve the quality of your paint job. also, talk to the painter, joke around and be friends with them, then offer him an extra $50-$100 under the table just to do a REALLY good job. just some ideas.
Macco does CRAPPY ASS prep work, and has CRAPPY ASS paint. The only way id ever do a macco, is if i prepped the car myself, and supplied my own paint. You get what you pay for, a nice paint job will cost around 2-4k. Spend the extra 1000 bucks and get it done right.
I did a search on paint job prices, and found a guy on here that worked for macco, and he said that they only gave him one sheet of sand paper to prep the car, and the boss got mad because he used the whole sheet on the trunk.

your lucky if any of that 1000 dollar paint is still on your car after a year. I'm with mob, find a reputable shop and pony up the extra dough. do it right the first time and it will last the life of your car.

I've had good and bad experiences with Maaco.
(in 1995) 83 Mustang- $575 Couldn't have been better. Perfect job and lasted a long time after I got rid of the car

I dont think all maaco's are bad I just think it is a hit or miss with them....that is why i wouldnt go to one.....i agree with everyone about juss going to a private good reputation shop...thats what i am doing.

Iv'e been quoted $2K from a local shop here that are customers of ours. We do there alignments and I get them there tires. I was told that price is just because they know me, I am the person they deal with on a normal basis and im the one that got there business @ our shop. They from what we can tell are the best in out area. They handle the dealer accounts from Benzs, Land Rover, Porsche, and BMW. They have repaired a few cars for us that we had mishaps here with. Looks new when it comes back.
yea i thought macco would be a good option, bc my current paint and body is in good condition and im just going to black, so when you say crappy paint? do u mean the paint itself or the durability?

My '84 convert. was $1500 in '89. my '89 which is in the shop right now was $1700 with me doing the labor and sanding.
