Im lost in a sea of catbacks, x-pipes and headers. I want to hear from every one on what the best complete exuast systems for the DOHC cobra is. We can settle this debate once and for all.

HP/TQ is about the same for all of the cat backs across the board. Most of them are stainless steel and are high quality. So what does that leave you with? How it sounds! How can you settle that? I LIKE the sound of my Magnaflows, but HATE the sound of the Borla Stingers! You'll never settle this debate... buy what sounds best to you and fits your budget.

What Meat said. all will give you around the same performance gains, it comes down to the sound. Listen to different set ups and make your decision.

Magnaflows are a little quiet for my taste,I love my borla stingers.I've seen with bassani x-pipe and cat back a 10hp difference between what I have borla stingers and bassani x-pipe... Borlas showed a 10hp gain versus bassani catback with same x-pipe.Although when your WOT its pretty loud, but just cruising and at idle ,I dont think you can beat that deep throaty sound of the borla stingers and bassani x-pipe.But like U.M said its just a matter of taste..HP is pretty close

Yeah if you like to ruin your motor with the MAC longtubes...

I liked my catted H-pipe/flowmaster catback combo I used to have...x-pipe and flows don't go well...If I ever get around to getting enough money for them I'm switching to Bassani catback...

i got the bassani x pipe and waitin on the catbacks, but i hear that this setup gives more sound out the rear of the car while magnaflows give a louder inside the car with more bass, bassani is more exotic sounding

Bassani, Dr. gas, or SLP(if you can afford it) x-pipes or headers. BBK makes great longtubes and h-pipes. MAC and flowtech..............i would'nt run that s--t if someone gave it to me.

X-pipe or H-pipe??

New here with '97 Cobra doing exhaust next what is better flowing H-pipe or X-pipe? also please suggest which catback to go with whatever pipe you feel flows better. I'm looking for best flowing setup, not looking for a loud setup...Thanks

What he said!

Also, for those who are new to the forum, please give the "search" function a try before posting (or reposting ) a question that is quite common, such as "which gears to install," or "best exhaust." No harm, no foul - just some friendly advice.

Additionally, there is a very comprehensive mustang specific exhaust website out there, www.mustangexhaust.com - you will find lots of information about the numerous exhaust systems for our vehicles on Nino's site.

Im curious now because I have heard more than a few people say bassani x pipe and flowmaster mufflers dont go good together? Are you all refering to sound or performance, because that is the setup I have, and I have been told it is the sweetest sounding NA 4.6 Cobra around and I totally agree. I quote "It sounds sick"

I think what some people are saying, is the desired combo would be X pipe/straight through - or - H-pipe/2-chambered. When you alter those combo's, they can sound a little strange.

To hurley711 - they both flow similiarly. X pipe's tend to net higher hp at max rev's, lower torque - while H pipe's tend to produce more torque, less hp. X pipe scavenge better.

peace

Stick with bassani, borla and magnaflow. Mac is just bad news and because of the way they run their business and don't fess up when their product kills people's motors, I will not do business with them.
I'm happy with my magnaflow stuff. It's probably the cheapest out there for 100% ss. I checked into it, and while some companies claimed SS, they were selling SS mufflers with aluminized steel tubing...which sucks. Also the magnaflow uses "rock wool" instead of fiberglass like everyone else. So when the firberglass gets brittle, breaks, and gets blown out the tailpipes, the rock wool expands and stays inside the muffler.
