i need some opinions about whether to go with bassani o/r x pipe, dr. gas x pipe, or bassani catted x pipe. can anyone give me feedback on performance and sound if it was paired with a bassani catback.

I've been told the Dr. Gas X-pipe makes the most power. An off road mid pipe will normally produce more HP than a similar catted mid pipe.

What combo are you referring to? You are asking about a single item, a mid-pipe.

If you chose to go the off-road route you will need MIL eliminators or a custom chip to keep the SES light from coming on. If you want the most power, go with the Dr. Gas mid-pipe, just keep in mind the Dr. Gas pipe is an off-road pipe. Do you have emissions checks to deal with?

i want to go with bassani catback but i do not know whether to go with the dr. gas or bassani o/r x and i was wonder which would be a better combo. also i dont know if i like the fact that the dr gas would have to be welded. also what do you think the car would sound like with each different set up?
thanks,
joe

If you don't want to bother with welding up the Dr. Gas, then yes, go with the Bassani midpipe. If you haven't already done so, check out www.mustangexhaust.com for sound files & other information related to exhaust choices...lotta good info!

I just traded my bassani o/r X for a Dr. Gas. The quality and fit of the bassani is better but I LOVE the sound of the dr.gas X-pipe. I'm running it with borla pro xs mufflers, it's pretty quiet but has an exotic sound when you get on it.

how was the sound when you had the bassani o/r x pipe different from the dr. gas? what made you get rid of the bassani? i am getting ready to order and just making some last minute decisions. i am definitely going with the bassani catback. i am also looking for quality. when u say that the dr. gas does not fit as good is that because of the welding that needs to be done.
thanks,
joe

I have a 2001 Cobra but I still felt it would help to throw in my .02
I have the Bassani catback and exhaust. They sound awsome, almost not worth turning on the radio just so I can hear them.

I can't give you a con against any other product but the stock which is no comparison. The look and sound of the Bassanis is my favorite mod yet.
Good luck!

Well the bassani had a deeper sound, the dr.gas has an exotic racey sound. I've seen better gains with the dr.gas, a friend of mine had one on his car and I liked the sound. As far as quality goes the dr.gas wasn't bad, I guess the bassani was just a better looking pipe but you're also comparing stainless to aluminized. The dr.gas fits great once you get it up there but it just seemed a little more difficult to line up maybe because of the location of the X since it is right under the trans and the bassani x section sits just behind the output shaft of the trans. They are both good products but I just personally like the dr gas better.

thank you for your information. that is what i am looking for is a deep sounding exhaust. i just dont want it to be extremely loud. my friend has a 96 cobra with bassani catted x and bassani catback and it sounds really good. so i am hoping it will sound like that but just a little bit louder with the o/r x pipe. so you can really tell the difference in performance from the bassani to the dr gas though?
thanks,
joe
