You guys that have these shorty's (Bassani) are there any issue's with these headers? I know some equal lenght shorties involve moving the dip stick,,, and are the plugs a real pain to get at when you go to change them? I want to purchase these when I get my new heads, any info would be appreciated.

I am running the bassani shorties with my blown 347 combo. they are top quality parts as with all bassani components. though they are more expensive than mac and ford racing and such, i think they are a superior product (not by huge leaps and bounds though) when it comes to attention to detail and overall fit and finish (not to bash the mac and frrp guys out there :flag: ). sometimes you do get what you pay for... if you do some searching around you can find good deals (ebay and stuff) . as far as changing the plugs... still the same as stock... i dont recall it being any degree more difficult...though the primaries are larger the differance in clearances should be marginal. sometimes guys running equal lengths run into problems with changing plugs, but that is nothing a little patience and some knuckle busters cant solve :rlaugh: . the bassani get my stamp of approval :nice: . good luck and let me know if there is anything else i can help you out with. i can always send you some pics or something if you would like. :D . :spot:

Willys, with your minor mods, the shorty headers - unequal or equal - are unlikely to make any difference. While the stock headers look really restrictive, they don't limit performance until you get up above 280HP or so at the crank. If you're setting yourself up for future more aggressive mods, I'd go with long tubes. If you decide to go with shorties, I'd stick with the unequal lengths. There's little performance difference between equal and unequal shorties - the space restrictions just don't seem to be worth it.

Thanks Mike, thats what I was trying to get at!!(space restriction) I made the mistake of taking off my stock headers and putting on FMS shorties.Dont get me wrong FMS makes a great header, but they are unequal, and I noticed a loss of bottom end torque.I figured putting back eqaul lenths would help my quest for bottom end torque. But the fact that most after market headers are bigger in diameter, they do take up alot of space.Ive read that some equal lenth headers intail relocating your dipstick,I dont want to do that.Im not gonna do much more to this motor(after my Thumper package up grade) The next step would be getting a crate motor. But for now Im just having fun with the facory motor :nice:
