Got my BBK catted hpipe yesterday from summit. I TRIED putting it on but just will not fit. The hangers are in the wrong spot. And the pipes are to far apart at the header collectors. Needless to say, its going back to summit monday. I was really suprised by this. Always liked BBK. Oh well, anyway.............

Bassani. Its supposed to be good. I have alot of good things thru the searches that i have done. But i do have a question though.

I have a 1993, does the xpipe come as one whole unit? Is it a two or three piece deal? If so, how does it go together?

Where is the best/cheapest place to buy?

Oh, i am looking for the "aluminized" version with cats.
Thanks....

Luckya$$!!

Maybe they decided to just "eyeball it" instead of using a "jig" when they made mine

You have that one WRONG.

UPR COPIED VRS!!!!!

I don't think they came up with anything on their own.

VRS does have better quality than UPR. I know, I used to work there.

UPR's are made by a company in Canada for around $34 per x-pipe.

FYI.

Correct... UPR never had an original thought in their life.

For you BBK X-Pipe guys... Have your pipes professionally installed if you're not good at cutting and welding. I have the Bassani Catted Stainless X-Pipe and Quiet Thunder cat back. Some modification was required to the X to make it all fit perfect including the relocation of one of the hangers. I think folks tend to forget how difficult it is to make a direct fit product. All the small variances between cars can't (of course) be the responsibility of the vendor.

I have BBK ceramic shorty headers, i also ran it with stock and had the same problem. However stock did seem to fit better. I had mine professionally installed and he had a heck of a time getting it to match up... He said he would never do another X-pipe as long has he lived.

I just put a bbk x-pipe in my 93 gt and it when in perfect and fit prefect. I had no problems installing it and no leaks. I love the way it sounds with the flowmaster cat back system.

I have a BBK o/r X on my 93 and it went on pretty smooth. Of course I have had it for about 2 years now.

Daggar is right on about the production variances in these cars. There is no way that they can compensate for all of the quirks that ech car has. That not withstanding it still sucks when you get something like an X pipe and you have to do a bunch of modifications to it to make it work.

I have a stainless Basanni X w/ cats on the wifes LX. Single piece, fit good, been on for about 5 years.

With MAC shorties and 2 chamber flows, this car is VERY QUIET. It was louder from the factory. Bummer.

Just a note to several comments on rust on the Magnaflow stainless steel products.

Stainless steel does NOT mean rust proof. It does mean it is a higher grade of steel and is far more resistant to rust.

That being said, if you live in a harsh climate or anywhere that uses salt on the roads to clear ice, you will see visible wear on the SS exterior pipes.

One thing I have noticed is that with a towel sprayed w/ WD40, I can wipe any small signs of rust right off of the exterior of my Magnaflow catbacks and the pipes look good as new...so the rust is surface based and not actually "eating" through the piping.

That's correct. I don't know what type stainless they use, but some do rust. I don't know every type of stainless that will or won't rust but 400 series is magnetic and will rust up pretty good.
