Was thinking of replacing the Optima (previous post) and since I work for Walmart and can get the batteries at a discount, was looking at their Everstart MAXX. They dont make them for our year though. Then I was thinking (uh oh)

Is there any reason that we cant put a battery that is "not for our car" ?

Besides fitment, does it really matter which battery we use?

I have the battery box in the trunk now and fitment is not an issue.

Thanks

I would think the only consideration beyond the dimensions would be cold cranking amps. If the battery doesn't provide enough cranking amps it won't turn the engine over. There isn't an Optima for our cars but you used one just fine. I'm pretty happy with the Optima Red Top I'm using. :nice:

Based on what you 2 are saying, I "COULD" get a different battery. The CCA of the Optima IS more than a stock battery. The MAXX from Walmart is way more than the 500 something cca of the stock one, but IM not sure how it compares to the optima. The better thing for me with the MAXX is the price and convenience of being so close to my house is something goes wrong with it. PLUS, you can always go to Walmart right before the warranty is up and "say" the battery is no good and get a new one...they dont test first.
