Yes, it's overkill. You will get an increase in throttle response from the larger tb, which many equate to increased hp, but you won't gain anything, and likely lose power from that tb.

I gained no hp on my ported PI headswap car going to a FRPP 70mm tb. This was untuned and with the stock plenum, but I have always been a big skeptic of the TB craze. I would save your money.

lol no, i have a dyno sheet if you want. Fail on your part, I picked up just about the same on my car with a 75 accufab tb and bbk plenum, plus there are a ton of others on here that made the same rwhp.

well thats 10rwhp on SAE. Uncorrected would show more power maybe around 15 or so. I would get the BBK 78mm tb plenum combo, its a great buy!

I have one and i love it, the fit & finish is outstanding. it was the first mod done to the car along with a PI intake. i ran a 14.89@91.20 bone stock and ran a 14.28@95.73 with just those two mods.

It's not youtube.

Tank, I see nothing in that graph that indicates the gains are attributed to a TB. The car is running much leaner when it is making more hp. If you had a graph with a car running the same A/F run, with it stating it is a tb test, then it would be more accurate.

You can't claim that the tb gave the car 10hp when it shows a difference in Air/Fuel like that.

Help you out when reading air/fuel Air-fuel ratio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

first of learn how to read a dyno sheet. the blue run is the leaner run with out the tb/plenum, and the red one is with the plenum. when the maf see more air flow it put more fuel in and making it more rich. Also if you look at the top of the runs the tb/plenum made about 20 more from 5200-6000rpm. once again you just got pwnd.

PS if you want me to do a video for you I can, its not like my brother works at a shop with a dyno and have a stock plenum.

Thanks, I understand now. Got Pwnd. I guess that is what the new generation of mustang owners call it.

Umm... that's not right. You are correct that the EEC will add more fuel if the MAF is seeing more air coming across it, but it's not right to say that seeing more air across the MAF will make the a/f richer. The computer will compensate by adding a sufficient amount of fuel to return the car to roughly where the ratio was not so much fuel as to drop the a/f a full point (in the case of this graph, back to 15 or so, not down to 13). And, it's usually the opposite scenario; the EEC has a hard time adding fuel to compensate for mods and the a/f will actually lean up in most cases. I'm wondering what exactly happened to drop the a/f that much in the span of a single dyno pull.

Notwithstanding that, the car in the dyno was absolutely crazy lean on the first pull and no doubt losing power. I'm not saying the plenum didn't gain power. But if you take one car with an a/f in the high 14s, and then reduce the a/f to 13 or so, you will gain power by that alone. Period.

Modular Depot did a great article on all the plenums when they came out. Not a single time did a new plenum/TB combo drop the a/f. Unfortunately the link to is is pretty much dead, but you can at least see the results here www.modulardepot.com/articlesp.php?aid=38 .
