BBK intake manifold?

FYI, the competitors to the BBK intake are the Performer, TFS Street intake, Cobra, and GT40. The intake is designed to be used up to 5500rpm.

Also, the intake used in the test is a pre-production unit. So the casting and fit issues with it are not what will be seen in the final version. Even the color will be different.

The intake has been delayed several months from the initial release date to fix issues with fuel lines, regulator placement, and so on. The piece used for the test didn't even have the CNC machine work performed in the runners.

The test was performed on the Cobra because that is the test car being used for all the fitament issues. It is a BBK employee's car. I don't think any of you would want to give up your car for as long as they have been working on this (5+ months). This is the car they had to work with. The mods were done well before the intake was developed. If you can't understand that, then I don't know what to tell you.

I'm sure there will be other tests performed with this intake against other intakes once the final version is released.

the BBK SSI still gets on average better hp than the GT-40 and Cobra intake

I'm not sure where your getting the info from, but they have not compaired actual dyno numbers for the bbk to any others besides stock in any engine format. I'm not doubting that it will happen, but I think some people are going to be severly dissapointed in their h/p and torque gaines after they strap that intake on to a stock engine.

I think it is worth 500, because the cobra intake costs over 500 and the BBK SSI performs better.

Again, I would not doubt that it performs better...but there have not been any actual dyno numbers yet. On a stock headed car, the h/p gains would be very minimal. It definatley wouldnt justify buying for anyone who currently has a aftermarket (or t-moss ported) intake.

I also thought the numbers were a little low but it is definitely still worth the money and has future potential. You get fuel line adapters, rails, regulator and intake for $550. If you minus say $200 for fuel rails and adapters, $100 for a regulator you are only paying $350 for the intake itself. That is a pretty good deal. I think what I am most impressed with is the lower intake. It is an air gap design with long straight runners. This would make it perfect for a custom upper intake or for a BBK race upper in the future. It would be nice also to see BBK offer a chrome version to match their chrome valve covers.

Nobody I know would seriously consider putting a stock intake on RPM heads. The purpose of the article I think, was to show gains from the BBK intake, but if that is the ase then Stock E7, ported E7 or GT40 style heads would have been a better comparison. OR, test the BBK against a Performer, RPM, Street Heat, Track Heat, etc.

Why was a guy with a Cobra car running a stock intake??????????

He's not. Did you read the article and it's sidebars? Says they put the stock intake on it because that's what a lot of people have on their cars and many people have similar mods as that Cobra. So it's a reasonable representation of what's out there.

Well, I have not seen anyone run a stock intake on RPM heads on any forum or any car that I have laid eyes on. You did read the side bar that said it had RPM heads right?

Nor have I, but I have seen some pretty poorly matched setups out there. Someplace people are doing it.

Yes I did. What the sidebar told me was the car needed a better camshaft to make more power. Looks to me like the heads and intake are good for each other, but the cam is too mild with the combo. Power was smooth, linier and long. Tells me the combo is well matched, but the numbers are low. A more aggresive camshaft is definitly needed to tell us more.

This is off the top of my memory - which may not be correct, but I thought they mentioned something about a future power adder and hence the mild cam.

Hmmmm....power adder....now that would spice things up. 15-18 psi of Procharger power sounds good. :D

I agree with you guys to a point. The HO 5.0 has been hasnt been made for 10 years. These guys at BBK should have an Idea how to make a killer intake by now.Id like to see what it does on a 100% stock 5.0 (non-cobra) If anything,it looks pretty cool

I have the perfect car for them to work on...I'll offer up my ride for the test.

In fact, I'd offer this up to Trickflow, Edelbrock, Ford Motorsport, and BBK...I will let them put on their intake and throttle body of choice, and run the shootout at a dyno facility, the intake with the highest average hp/tq from 1500-5500 rpms wins, and I will buy it.

The 93 Notch has UD Pulleys, Electric Fan, no smog pump, and 1.75" LT headers and full exhaust...sounds like the 'perfect' lightly bolted on car for them to test. The Hatch my wife drives is as close to stock as you can get...that might make an even better test subject.

Think anyone will go for it? :rlaugh:
