I sanded my BBK shorties ,sprayed 2000 degree clear ,and wrapped them with DEI lava infused header wrap.

Scotch brite pad, green one.
Should clean it up quite nicely.
That is all surface rust and should come right off.

Thanks!
Sounds easy enough.
Do I need to coat them with anything after getting the surface rust off?

Second the green scotch Brite pad. Spray some WD40 on them and the pad. It really helps. WD40 was actually designed as a metal cleaner. It will help lube while you scuff so it's not too abrasive on the coating.

Thanks for all the help.
They look better now. But not perfect.
Some of the areas where more pitted than what the first picture shows, I guess.
I did break through some of the finish here and there.
Oh well, I'll keep at them and hopefully get some more years out of them.
Unfortunately, the car sat outside at the garage I was having work done at for two winters for quite a few months waiting for parts etc....

That's the " standard" Titainium ceramic they switched to vs chrome the used to sell them as...honestly its no better than high heat spray paint. The still offer the polish ceramic which holds up better to the scotch bite....... Some diluted drain cleaner on a rag will pull stains out of the polished " jet hot" like finishes..

I had BBK chrome shorties on the car forever. They never rusted.
If it's no better than high heat spray paint, I might just do that someday. What do you recommend for the paint product?
What's the ratio of the diluted drain cleaner? I'll try that.
Thanks

The drain cleaner is basically a mild acid so it works with polished stainless and real jet hot type polished ceramic coatings. The headers you have now is there " titanium " ceramic not sure what it would do to that. Only set I had of those where scratched so easily from just shipping that I sold them before installing, that coating holds up no better than high heat bbq or vht header paints if they see any weather they get rust threw spots, I've use those paints on many old bbk and mac headers I picked used but they all eventually starter spotting like that since the cars sit out in the weather.
