I have a 98 and I'm thinking about running BBK longtubes and a BBK offroad X-pipe. I was considering the Dr. Gas, but it's kinda expensive for not even being put together. I want everything to bolt up to my stock catback and I'm just gonna replace the mufflers and leave all the piping. Would Dr. Gas bolt up correctly to BBK longtubes and a stock catback?

The dr. gas is a weld together piece, so Im sure you could make it fit perfectly how you want it. I would go Dr. Gas over BBK x pipe any day. I love how it sounds.

I meant fitment as in the same type of flanges. Everyone says the Dr. Gas sounds good, and I believe em, but I just don't see how it could sound different than a BBK when it looks like almost the same design.

Also, anyone have any dyno numbers on x pipes and muffler setups?

Actually, the BBK design is signifcantly different than the Dr. Gas design. IMO, the BBK will give you more of a raspy sound, not even comparing to the famous tone of Dr. Gas. Look at pictures of both X junctions - you will see the difference.

So is that another vote for Dr. Gas? I think I'll just go with the Dr. Gas. I've never doubted its sound, but just the idea of having to get the pieces welded together.

What about comparing performance wise of BBK X pipe vs. Dr. Gas X pipe? Do Mac Prochambers make more than any X or H pipe?

I have the BBK LTs and BBK Offroad X through a Magnaflow SS Catback.

My friend has a 01 Bullitt with BBK LTs, Dr. GasX, and Magnaflow SS Catback.

We both dynod before and after. We picked up almost the same HP. His comment was if he had to do it all over again, he'd save the cost of the Dr.Gas and go with the BBK.

I gained 23 RWHP and 19 RWTQ with that exhaust mod. It was my first mod.

def1eppard - If you're looking for a mod you can do yourself (assumming you don't weld) the BBK Xpipe bolts right up.

If taking it somewhere and having them weld it together - then putting it on isn't a concern, Dr.Gas may work well for you. I've heard good and bad about both.

Opposite of what madmatt said, I would choose BBK Xpipe any day over Dr.Gas.

Good Luck.

Hmm...I'm still struggling to choose. My thing is....it doesn't matter about the do it yourself thing, because I'm gonna be getting longtubes, and since I am gonna get someone to install the longtubes, and also weld in the mufflers, I might as well get them to put in the shorty x pipe, because I don't want to drive around straight headers AND most shops won't just let you leave like that because they are guilty of making your car illegal on street.

I got a question. Do your longtubes/X-pipe hang down kinda low? Do they look like they could have been tucked up closer to the body?
