Does anyone know about how to adjust the allen screws on the base.(besides using a allen screwdriver). Heres what I mean. On mine if you tighten them down all the way, the shifter wont go into 5th or reverse. So of course I have to loosen them. Right now when it is in a gear, the shifter is extreamly loose. Say it is in 3rd, i can move the handle almost like its in neutral, and reverse and 5th are hard to get into. Is it suppose to be like that or is it suppose to be tighter? Do I just need to play with the allen screws more to get it better? thanx

well, for the MGW, I know that before you install the shifter you need to put the plastic ball from the previous shifter onto the bottom, otherwise the shifter will be really loose/sloppy. As far as adjusting the stops, here are the instructions that will make sure you can shift properly:

1. Back the stops out all the way
2. Put car into 3rd, making sure its fully engaged
3. Tighten the top screw until it touches the shifter, then back off one full turn.
4. Try engaging 1st and 5th with the stop in place. you should be able to see some space between the shifter and the stop when fully engaged
5. Put on lock washer and nut, and tighten
6. Put car in 4th gear, turn bottom stop until it touches the shifter, then back off one turn
7. Make sure you can fully engage 2nd and reverse, again, there should be some space between the stop and the shifter (just a small space)
8. Put on lock washer and nut, tighten.

You should be good to go. Also, if you have a T-3650, you dont need the stops, so keep that in mind.
