Not so much a technical question, but I notice after searching that when people do these swaps and builds not many folks paint the block (<-might be the wrong term) or other paintable items to match their car. Is this not a good thing to do? If so why? I would imagine it would make certain parts maybe not fit snug due to the paint. I was thinking on giving my engine a real good cleaning and beautifying while it is out and being built. I want it to match my car or at least the engine compartment.

ANy advice? Or paint recommendations? I know I need the super high temp stuff.

Majority of time the blocks are painted..the color is your choice, I went with black.

Meh not my thing but when i had my valve covers off to replace the gaskets i painted them. Then with the left over i sanded down my beauty plate and painted it the same color. It looks ok but my car is far from show quality. Its all up to the individual.

my car has two tones, green and beige... i chose the subtle tone, beige, to paint most of my engien parts... Ideally, when all the brackets came off my old block, i sand blasted them, primed them, sanded them, and painted /cleared them - they are shiney - i polished the tensioner, and I painted the AC bracket, A/C compressor, ALT bracket, Alternator (alt fan w/ silver) some random brackets, I bought polished intakes upper n lower, chrome valve covers, CAI is chrome - n that's about all you'll see, and i Painted the entire engine bay Green and Cleared it and it looks spectacular, i have pics in my "engines photo progress thread" that i had posted a while back, and than the progress stopped as I awaited parts to be shipped in, mainly my heads and oilpan - the block color i will be painting will be black because ne other color will contrast w/ my green beige scheme

Paul

I just searched, found and read your thread on your painting project. I am greatly impressed. Rather than start a new thread I was wondering. A few of you guys mentioned polishing your old parts to get that chrome or aluminum look. Can you do that to all parts on the engine? Since I may be getting my hands on a 92 shell I may be doing this as well. I will be hittin you up for advice...and others as well.

Oh and you left us hangin there at the end, where is the updated pics?
