below headers

aight while i was taking off my stock headers, i came across something that seems to be sorta like a valve between the drivers side header and my h-pipe, what is this? is it important? and if i can remove it will my bbk's im installing still fit??

haha no my car is cabureted, it is like a spacer with a valve in it were the headers connect to the h-pipe

Carbed cars still have O2 sensors

srry camera is broken and also my car doesnt have any o2 sensors i know that is true

Hear riser valve, to shut off the exhaust to allow for faster heat up... Not sure but thats my guess

That's what it is. I beleive it's specific to '85's only


You can remove it, but to do so you need to pick up an 86-93 header to replace it. The other header you have can stay. Should be easy though to find someone selling stock headers.

yeah it looks like a throttle body between my headers and h-pipe, but im gettin bbk equal lenth shortys from summit, they are on the way and i decided since i m taking off the smog pump tubes, why not delete it, ive tried several diferent belts even made my way down to a 81.5 inch belt but that is still too big, which i though was odd
