It will bind to the point of being very difficult to push (engage/disengage) or will break. Although it's rare that a cable break unless you're abusing your car.
I'd you're concerned just swap it out. It's a very straight process.
Thanks. I've been wondering about replacing just due to age and have watched LMR's video on doing it. Doesn't seem awful except for having to wedge my fat self under the dash of the car.

I've read that posted a number of times. I thought it was because it was an SN95 cable, but i take it you were putting it on your Sn car and it was still longer?
