Best gear for the 1/4 mile?

yeah you should have a car length or two on him then. ha ha :nice:
blah, I'll have my Novi 2000 set-up before he gets his precious KB

All kidding aside, our races this past weekend came down to the 60', more or less. I can post a few time slips for you guys to pick apart if you like. I think our cars are very evenly matched, and our driving skills, while not the greatest, are about even and getting better each pass.

Cant wait to finally hit the 1/4

He's Dead. UPS man just stopped by. ;)

As far as 60' times go, I've cut a 2.05 on All-Season Sumitomo HTR+,, 245/45/17. Not the greatest, but with the gears and those tires, I'll take it. Now with the LCA's, I'll be disappointed in myself if I dont pull a 1.9.

Now, which TOB should I get with the McLeod? FRPP, or McLeod?

Nice :nice:

if you guys are both on street tires, I think you can take him. He's gonna have to work harder to launch with out roasting those tires....

Lot's of people that have 4.10's and race strictly quarter mile want to switch to 3.73's
:nonono:

lots do when they get 500rwhp you mean :nonono:

we've been running 1/8 and 1000ft.

His best 1/8 ever was 8.72 @ 82.31mph with 2.02 60ft.. on nearly bald street tires, not his GS-D3's. This run was last fall.

BUT THIS PAST SUNDAY:
His best 1/8 was 8.91 @ 81.79 with a 2.13 60ft on GS-D3's.

My best 1/8 was 8.92 @ 81.21mph with a 2.08 60ft.. on the Sumi all-season's.

I'll get some more time slips between mine and his races.. let you guys see what you think

Here's Jasonh_86s best run from Sunday. Car # 9017 He's in the Left lane on Both runs, Im in the Right.

That's the exact clutch kit I got from MM. Full Price of course :nonono:. Anyway I also ordered the MM TOB. Turns out it's a Ford TOB. Stamped right on it. The clutch is on, all that is left is to finish installing the revised parts from the T3650 tsb in the tranny and put it back together along with my new MagnaFlow catback.

awesome, let me know how you like it once its broken in would you? :nice:

I know, the price of the McLeod is up there. The only reason I got it is because of the group buy discount.

I wouldnt put it in 5th. That would kill me. I think one reason Im so close to redline in 4th in the 1000ft is that I spin so bad off the line, Im shifting into 3rd earlier than I would if I had better traction. ie, if I shift into 3rd just a little later, I'll shift into 4th just a little later, and my rpms wont be as high when I cross the 1000' and I'll still have rpm left for the final 320'.

Where would 3.90's put you?

Im thinking 3.90s would be perfect for a mild bolt-on street/strip car. You would probably be right in your powerband in 4th, as opposed to redline with the 4.10s. Now, with cams and more than basic bolt-ons, I'll be happy to keep the 4.10s.

you arent at redline with 4.10s. put a real tach in your car
i dont think I will be either (at a 1/4 track). it just seems that I would be if our 1000' track had the extra 320'. we're heading to memphis to hit the 1/4 next month, so i'll let you all know how it goes. the real tach will come after LT's, and maybe* cams.

I think my times/trap speak for themselves. 4.10s wouldnt help me in the 1/4...just worsen my traction and I would run slower. Just stick with the 3.73s...the 3.73s are just coming in on the bigend when the 1000' is up. FOR your CURRENT setup, in the 1000'. 4.30s would be the best, but IMHO results would be negligable. I think its mainly all about learning how to drive your car with the setup you have. There are stock gear GTs deep in the 12s, just doesnt matter as much as most think.
