Best Gears for a 94 AODE Convertible

Wow Paul, I thought I was the ONLY one leaning in that direction....I noticed that several of the 4.10's rec's have come from NON AODE guys.

Yup always a lot of guys that just post what is the kewl number. Don't get me wrong, I love the low end grunt.... but I live out in the hills of the ozarks where the hillbillys drive 30 mph and create a long line of traffic. I frequent 110 and refuse to pop O/D again. Which reminds me, I never posted the pic of the ate up O/D band. i should do that.

Sometimes I wonder if I should have done 4.30 or 4.56 but never thought of 3.73's since the install.

I had an AOD in my 5.0 Tbird and I installed 3:73 in them. Was ok but far from enough. I experienced some 4:10's in a buddy's car and if I'd have an AODE, I wouldnt go less than 4:30's...numerically speaking.

Actually, deeper gears reduce the amount of stress and load on the transmission and engine making life easier for the tranny's internals, OD included. Besides, you should have a trans-cooler anyway. I bet you still haven't put your's on, have you?

No offense, but the deeper gears won't help O/D in my situation. I don't use O/D unless I have to. So steeper gears would make me use it more.

And nope on the tranny cooler. My winter vehicle took a crap. Head gasket dumped the radiator in the block and caused a big problem.
