Best hooking tire for a stock 17x8 wheel

I saw two tires on the Mickey Thompson website. ET Streets and ET Street Radials. The ET Street has really thin sipes going down the middle. It almost looks like a slick. Jegs P/N 672-3743.

The second one has the wider sipes and has two going down the middle and the diagonal ones along the edges. Jegs P/N 672-3743R.

Which one were you talking about?

the first ones the one that is almost a slick

Summit Racing and Jegs have them priced about the same. A couple of dollars difference. I'm split down the middle, maybe leaning a bit more towards the ET Street Radials.

I'm reading a thread on another msg board where a couple of people said they talked to Mickey Thompson (the company, not Mickey himself :) ) and they were both told the ET Streets (sort of slicks) are more geared for 5-speeds and the ET Street Radials (not so slicks) are more geared for automatics. I'm still not sure why but that just pushes me more toward the ET SR.

my best friends father's fox body with a stock motor, c-4 and a stall went into the mid 1.6s on the DRs @ about 3100-3200lbs race weight so you cant go wrong with them. He also was running 19psi :rlaugh: i think either will work for you, but the DR's will be better for street and track duty if need be and last longer as well. I have my et streets in the closet at home at about 3/4 tread and cant wait to remount them :(
