Well, I guess we've officially hijacked this thread so sorry, but I guess it could still be considered educational LT discussion

Anyhow, Vibe, I called Pacifica (and a few other dist.) and they didn't have the 1 3/4 but they did have the 1 5/8 so thanks, I'll get em quicker. I decided to go 1 5/8 for a few reasons, not nec this order:

In his book MUSTANG PERFORMANCE HANDBOOK, William Mathis writes, "Running tube diameters beyond 1-5/8" should be reserved for the supercharged or mega-horse power engines.

In his book HOW TO BUILD MAX PERFORMANCE FORD V-8s, George Reid (speaking of pipe size) writes, "As a rule, engine displacements and performance levels determine pipe size. Displacements between 221 and 302 call for pipe size in the 2" to 2 1/4" range. Larger displacements from 351 to 460-plus call for sizes in the 2 1/4 to 2 1/2" range."

I have talked to Rick at AFM numerous times and he assures me that I would be happiest with my current cam in the 347 (even though he could have sold me a different one). I liked it in my 302 so I'm excited about shat it will do in the 347. Lastly, since this is a "blower" cam, it has more exhaust duration, which makes be believe that I'd be okay with the smaller primary tubes since the gases will have longer to excape...that's my thinking, nobody knows for sure untill its bolted up though, so wish me luck, Happy Christmas Eve everone!

All good points but as you bolt them up you will see the mis-match between the primaries and AFR 185 ports. They won't rob that much so you'll be fine.

Yeah, I will admit I had some concern about that...is that something I can port out on the headers or is it more restrictive than that?

Won't have to port them but you will have to clean up the welds in the primaries before installation.
