Best Mas/Maf

Ok, i have a C&L 73mm maf calibrated for 19#ers, and at light throttle above 2k the engine pings, and when using the stock maf and changing nothing else, it doesnt ping. Is there any other aftermarket maf out there that wont cause this? im in no rush but im planning to buy the tfs kit soon and dont want these problems when i switch to 24#ers.

Well, when you change to 24's, you will be changing the MAF/MAS in some way to match the larger injectors.

It may be that the problem just goes away when you convert to 24Lb injectors and the corresponding MAF.
Or, maybe the ping gets worse.

No real way to know at this point.

Things like this are why folks say that C&L meters are crap.
The real frustrating part is that the meter may work perfectly with the 24Lb injectors :shrug:

If you want to fix the problem now (while running 19Lb injectors), then pick up a MAF/MAS from a 94-95 Mustang. This stock MAF should be more accurate than the C&L.

The down side is that the sn95 MAF/MAS can't be used with 24Lb injectors (not with out a custom tune anyway). :(

I guess what I am saying is...
Fixing the MAF now, doesn't do any good for when you convert to 24Lb injectors, as you will have to modify the MAF at that time as well.

Get the NEW STYLE PMAS MAF. And, do NOT use an engine bay cone filter. That setup is close to the accuracy of the Ford OEM meters. If you get the NEW STYLE PMAS MAF and do NOT have an engine bay filter, that should be within ~5% of the baseline. That's according to *PMAS*. And, *so far*, the flow sheets that *I've* seen seem to confirm their claim.

But, any injector change without a chip WILL cause lean conditions depending on a number of things. The load calculations that the EEC does gets all screwed up. As you go with bigger injectors and SCALED MAF, the problem gets worse and worse.
 
i understang what ur sayin vristang, it makes perfect sense. Obviously the 93 cobra setup makes the most sense for accuracy, but seems a little pricey. It seems the only true way to not screw up the load and timing calculations however, minus a chip or dyno tune. I guess ill start lookin into that thx guys
