Hey guys, been a while since I've posted last, but with all the crap that went wrong with the car and funds not permitting, then along with getting really burntout on working on the car I lost interest for a while. Now I'm sick of letting it sit in the garage, and my old cj7 has new wheels waiting for her tires and I put on so it's time to play with the stang again. I need 1-2 and 3-4 gear synchros. Powershifting is out of the question even with new gears (my bad for bein a retard and not replacing them when I rebuilt it, but they *looked* ok lol.) And the d/r's and spray didn't help the clutch much as anything over a quarter throttle isn't doing anymore good now. Probably jumping from the spec 1 to 3 since shes not my d/d, and I want one that will really hold and not be too bad on my leg. Any other suggestions on a clutch possibly? My spec was a good one once it broke in, she just couldn't stand up to the power or the traction the car was puttin out. Thanks.

See Hanlon Motorsports - T5 and Tremec parts, sales and service or Welcome to D&D Performance - The 5 & 6 Speed Experts! for parts

See TTC: Product Literature to download a FREE service manual for T5 or Tremec 3550/TKO
You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions

Hanlon Motorsports - T5 and Tremec parts, sales and service also has a video on how to rebuild your T5 or Tremec. It costs about $20, and is worth every penny of it.

I did a Tremec 3550 rebuild, and it wasn't that difficult. The video was an immense help, and I would recommend viewing it. At $20, it will give you an opportunity to look and decide for yourself if you think that it is something you want to try to do.

What parts of the synchros do you need?

Blocker rings? Sliders? the hubs? the actual gears themselves?

Depending on how bad your synchros are determines which parts you replace. If they are damaged enough you'd have to replace actual gears themselves.

A basic rebuild kit only replaces parts that get normal wears - blockers and springs and keys. When you start grinding, it damages the hard parts which cost more money

All gears but 5th or reverse are new or were very slightly used. New countershaft is also in. The synchro teeth on my old gears were what was really chewed up, but new gears only helped the problem so I must have missed something. A rebuild kit from astro was used, along with a steel bearing retainer so the only thing left is the synchros. Guess I'll have to take it apart and see whats up.

Unfotunately if the teeth on the gears were chewed up, that more than likely means the teeth on the synchro sliders were damaged as well. Good chance that you redamaged the teeth on the gears by not replacing them.

Only way to tell is to take the trans apart and inspect everything
