best tire size for 17x9 wheel

I'm running 255/40/17s on the front on a 17x8 wheel
and 275/40/17s on the rear, same, 17x8 wheel

Thanks guys. I think for now im going to stick with the the 245/45/17, as the set I have are better less than 25% worn and Im cheap! The motor dont have enough umph to turn anything bigger at the moment, so perhaps with the engine build up comes a new set of tires!
