Im getting my engine block fresh from the machine shop on Friday. I need to put it in my unfinished, no climate control basement where it gets pretty humid....for about a month. I have plenty of industrial plastic wrap. Will it be ok if I spray it down with wd40 and wrap it in this plastic? Or is there something else that I should do? i wont be able to spray the thing every day...maybe once a week.

you can get spray can cosmoline, but for a month, I'm not sure it's worth it. Instead of WD-40, I'd wipe it down with some engine oil, but first I'd paint it like XO said, then wipe the cylinders, valley, and crank galley down with some 10w-30. Will it be stored on a stand, or just standing up?

Like everyone suggested you should paint the outside of the block now. For a month I would wipe it with oil as suggested also and bag it real good. For long term storage I usually wipe all the machined surfaces down with grease and then bag them.....but not for a month.
