best way to adjust valves...

ok guys last one...
i got cast iron gt-40's with i THINK just a rebuild
right now im running stock rocker arms and stock legnth (but bigger diameter)
also stock lifters
as well as valve lash caps dont ask

any ways, what i also have is some
crane cams 1:6 ratio roller rockers
and another pushrod set that seems to be about 10 thousands on an inch shorter


whats the best way to adjust them,
they are ped mount.
im driving around right now, it feels like i have pretty significant power, but the valve train makes a decent amount of noise.

That's how I did mine.

You do want to make sure of
your pushrod length which
will affect the roller's travel
pattern across the top of
the valve stem. Check Crane &/or Comp's websites for
info on how to determine correct pushrod length & rocker
tip travel.

huh, thats great, but i dont have a dial indicator.

is there any way to do it WITHOUT pulling off the lower plenum?

please guys; im on my own with this one

p.s. should the stock pushrod legnth be right for these heads?

i didn't know that you had to adjust the valves if the are ped-mounted...

i've always just tighten them down

with pedistal mount i just turn the motor over until both the lifters on that cylinder are all the way down and torque the bolts to 25 ft lbs. there is no need for adjustment

90lx is right, put each cylinder on the firing stroke(both valves closed) and torque to 25 ftlbs while spinning the pushrod with your fingers, STOP tightening when you get to 25ftlbs and the pushrod stops spinning easily...Use the shims as required to get it right if the pushrod locks up hard before you see 25ft lbs. Start at #1 cylinder and go through the firing order until you do them all...when you finish valve #16 you will be a fully qualified valve adjuster don't forget to use the loctite.
