I recently got a 2003 Mustang with the "pony package". I love the car, but it has those terrible decals of a running horse on the bottom of each door. I wondering what is the safest way to remove those. I don't want mess up the paint under and around the decals. Also, has anyone any problems, i.e. falling off, with the stainless steel letter inserts for the rear bumper. Thanks.

Ouch! Seems like a waste. I'm sure someone would want the decals. I wish swapping doors was an easy thing.

Try lighter fluid or Actetone or Xylene or Naptha or any paint thinner and sharp razor blades(well they are all sharp) but keep replacing them often.....try the particular product on a hidden part of your paint first....just in case ans have soapy watwr handy to wash it off quick when you are doing it. Those types should not eat your paint right off but you better safe than sorry lol. I really did not mind the horsie stickers....you don't see them everyday around here anyway. I noticed one, to be honest. Good luck but I would reconsider if I were you.

Body shops have a big gum eraser on a spindle that will remove stickers without ruining the paint, it is spun by a drill or similar and just peels the sticker off in little pieces. Used it on an old cruiser and you couldnt even tell where they were on a white car after use.

I posted this in another thread....

Actually I used to work with graphics and the proper way that we would take them off is with one of those bernz o matic propane torches.....that will heat up the sticky stuff along with the vinyl and as long as it was good vinyl it will come off easy if it was the cheap stuff be prepared to pick at it for a while....and use rubbing alcohol, but if it comes down to it go with the nail polish remover just be really careful with the paint....and don't fear the torch it will not ruin your paint or windshield.......however I am sure if you burned it long enough it would begin to blister the paint although it would take a good amount of time.....

Hey, I just got a 2003 with the Pony Package too. I didn't like the graphics either. What I did was to just use my fingernails to peel off the graphics and then use goo-gone to remove the residue. The paint still looks perfect. Good luck!

This is what I did. The dealer had an awful pinstripping kit put on.

I peeled the edges up like a sticker and pulled most of it off. Then took some wd-40 and got all the residue off. Washed, polished, and waxed.

The paint under the pinstripping wasn't damaged. Couldn't tell that there was any adhesive on th car.
