i wanna know what it'd take to get a '93 LX 5.0 auto to see 13's andlike low 13's high 12's with slicks...what would be some setups that would get you there? thanks

Mild cam (.510+ range)
full exhast/w shorty or full headers
ported 87-93(E7TE) heads/ or a set of gt40's/ or aftermarket heads like afr 165's
some gears 3.73-4.10's
ported loower inake(if you keep your stock intake), or a nice aftermarket intake like Edebrock perfomer rpm
bigger TB, 70-75mm
other mods mite be needed(afpr, injectors, maf, nitrous, ignition system)

on the tranny side a nice shift kit and a stall converter(2200-3000) will also drop your et.

or even a junkyard twin turbo build up, should get u there for aroud 800-1200 bucks, thats if u build it your self

how much cash do u have?

I agree, spray would be the easiest cheapest way, but then your spraying and still running 13's, I would hide the bottle and keep it a secret.

I would say a gear, some traction, maby some weight reductions would definatly get you in there.

what do you suggest for a junkyard turbo build up?? (i know a guy at a local performance shop who i am sure will be able to offer me advice and where to get parts)

also what do you guys do for weight reduction?

well the turbo kit will probably give you way more then any H/C/I or nitrous. just gotta know what your doin with that. but usually the easiest JY turbo kit is a twin turbo setup. easy to weld and easy to get turbos, usually t3's out of a turbo coupe,SVO, X4TI...... but the intake side is bit more complicated, but not if you have the right intercooler.

with a JY turbo kit..since its a '93 didn't they change pistons that year..so will that screw me over?

Yes and No,
you wont be able to run as much boost as a forged piston motor.........
But you can safely run up too 12psi if u have a good intercooler, bigger injectors(24-42#ers),and matching maf sensor....that should be all u need that should run low 12's never mid 13's :D

stock t3 turbos waste gates push 10psi of boost, good for 12's :nice: and 375-400Hp, as long as u run 93 all the time your motor wont skip a beat, and 12psi boost you can run but id say thats max with your pistons, and u should be running 11's.........
go to http://toohighpsi.com and http://www.turbomustangs.com/ for lots of info on jytt bulid ups :)

ALSO CHECK OUT EBAY they have tons of turbocharers(most new ones u can get for $225-$350)now thats a good deal, they also have all the other stuff pretty cheap just look around awhile....
An i cannot stress it enuff get a nice big intercooler, not only does it help make more horse power it will keep your motor from detonateing and with u haveing hyper pistons will make your motor last long and keep it ALIVE

if your thinking JYT, look into a water/methanol injection system. You wouldn't believe the kind of boost you can run with one of these. My brother uses one on his GN and runs 25!! pounds of boost on pump gas. He even uses windshield washer fluid when he can't get methanol.

Yes this is a good idea, somewhat cheap 100-300bucks, and not only does it aid in cooling the intake charge by 25% and you can up the boost safely!!!
its almost like a second intercooler / and can run 12psi allday long but like i said before you shouldnt go over 12psi on your 93 motor :nono: :)

quality 3000 stall convertor.
shift kit.
4.10's-4.30's.
alum. driveshaft.
u/d pullies.
76mm C'n'L MAM.
Tom Moss prep'd lower intake.
1-5/8" long tubes, 2-1/2" off road intermediate pipe, 2-1/2" cat back.
slicks and skinnies.

short belt and ice the intake at he track.

that should be a low 13 high 12 second lx.

lets put it this way, you're going to need all that stuff and more to run a heads cam intake combo, so, pick up the supporting cast first.
