Better Performance

When I bought my 66 coupe I said I would keep everything stock the v6 200ci had been recently rebuilt I was mainly concerned with the cars appearance...well a paint job later, new emblems,gas cap, letters,tires and wheels and new woodgrain steering wheel she looks great but she has no get up....I have been told a new carb will enhance her performance what else can I do to give her more power without dropping a bigger engine...she looks fierce but she isnt leaving any one at the light...just want more get up she runs great!!!

ok first you have an inline six, NOT a V6. you can install a carter YF carb to improve air flow into the engine. a set of headers will help alot in removing spent gases. advance your timing untill the engine pings under load with the fuel you are using, then back off until the pinging stops. you can install stiffer rear gears, a 3.50 gear for a six is a good compromise for the street. you can install a T5 trans as well, more gears + overdrive. add a decent cam, mike at www.classicinlines.com has a number of good cams that would work. check out this link

for the street any of the first four cams listed will work just fine for performance, and still give you decent fuel economy.

you can also add and aussie 250 2v head, or if you have the money you can add mikes new aluminum head for the six. either way there is power there. dont be afraid to check out the forums at www.fordsix.com as the guys over there will be more than happy to help you get more power from your six.
