The kdw's are all-season tires, and you need some performance summer tires. I don't have them but I've seen them and the tread design looks like **** compared to the t/a kd's. Look on www.tires.com or www.tirerack.com for something more aggressive, if that's what your looking for.

I have the KDSW Z rated 245/45 's. They do have a much stiffer sidewall than the factory originals so they do ride a bit firmer. They are much better in the rain as well. I recommend them. I think I paid $650 or so including mounting and balancing.

If you are looking for something that will hook better than the KDW, it definitely ISN'T going to be the KDWS.

Here is how they differ

The K stands for "Key product application"

KD - Summer only, the D stands for Dry
KDW - Summer only, the D stands for Dry, The W stands for Wet
KDWS - All Season, the D stands for Dry, The W stands for Wet and the S stands for Snow

The only tires in the G-force series outside of the G-force T/A drag radials that are gonna hook better than the KDW is the KD and they are more expensive and they will not last as long as the KDW. Basically if you want better traction than the KDW, it is going to cost you up front and in longevity of the tire.

If you don't mind me asking, can you give more details on the problems you are having with your KDW's? What tire size did you get and what size rims do you have? What air pressure do you keep in them?

I am on my second set of KDW's on my Mustang and I find they stick like glue in both the dry and wet.

Great post! Clear. Concise. Direct to the point. No speculation. No flaming. No insults. Thank you.

might want to try something a little different then. I am now runnning the KDW2. which is the KDW but the new tread design. looks awesome and are outstanding in the rain and on pavement. cornering is the best i have seen yet, though strait line for me is bad because i have some suspension issues i have to work out.

I'll be buying the KDW2 again

Do you have any pics? I have seen them on hotrods and the like but, never on a Mustang. I think I like the more traditional look of the tread on the original KDW but, who knows. I would be curious to see them on a Mustang.

That was my first exposure to the BFG KDW as well. I had a '98 Contour SE Sport to which I added a bunch of SVT go fast parts as well as '00 E0 SVT rims and BFG KDW tires. When I got the Mustang that was the first thing I did and I am now on my second set.

i think i got some people confused. i have the kdw and i like them but i can't afford to get them right now. i am looking for a good all around tire that is going to last a while. my kdw lasted a long time and the kdws have 100 more treadwear to them so i am thinking they will last a while longer and i know they wont hook as good but i don't care i have my dr's in storage for the track.

you might want to look into the nitto NT555. they are cheaper and personally would be the ONLY one i'd get in replacement of my KDW. they are not as good in the strait, and not quite as capable in the curves, but it does very well especially for the cost. they were also quite good in the rain, though i did notice a lil humming from then when the road was saturated with rain (downpours) but how often do you get downpours as opposed to medium to light rain?

just my 2c

rjstaaf - gimme a sec and I'll shoot the pics up.

I think BFG's are a great product.KDWS should serve you well. They are a good all season tire

I have the KDW on my car. 275 all around. They are great in the rain and pretty damn sticky for autocrossing. I'll probably go with the KD's when these are used up for even more stick.
