Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about getting 4 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW's for my 2003 Mustang GT. I was wondering if you guys think they are good tires?

My KDWs were nothing special. If you are talking about KDW2s they are incredible. Best tire I've ever driven.

I have the KDW's on my Grand National. Have had them on for about 5 years and maybe 5,000 miles. They grip very well and still have 10/32 on them, theyre like new. However, after 5 years of limited driving they are dry-rotted and will probably have to be replaced this summer. As far as them vs. the F1's, they will last longer and grip just as well if not better. If you drive the car, I would definitely get the KDW's Hope this helps.

My car still has the kdws from the factory on it and they are a nice tire from what I have noticed so far. I had sumitomos on my other GT and will be using these bfgs from now on.

Agreed. Better than RT615s. My next set will be KDW2/KDWNTs.

I thought they were awesome but lost some grip after 4 months of spirited driving, no track stuff. Could have just been me, IDK. Either way I recommend them.

Which version are you referring to?

Original KDW...

KDW2/ KDW NT (New tread)...

I have the regular KDW on the rear of my fox, & they are far from impressive. They seem to hold up pretty well, they handle well too, but grip is non existent from a dig, or even a 1st gear roll.

The KDW2 on the other hand, for the price point, they are the best tire on the market imo. They handle great, have a ton of grip for a regular street tire, they are excellent in the rain, & they last a long time. I got 25k out of my last set of fronts with no rotations & alot of spirited driving.... Plus they look cool too....

Looks like the rears are facing the wrong way. They are directional tires, may have something to do with the grip problem.

I had the original KDW design on my '97 and didn't like them (they were very loud!). I am considering the KDW2s because they seem to get much better reviews than their predecessor.

I don't know if you are open to looking at other tires or not, but if you are, I would suggest looking at the Nitto 555s. My granddad is about to buy a set of tires for his Mach 1, and I was doing some research on tires as well. Now I don't know how the rating scales compare, but in the ratings I have seen, the Nittos do a good bit better than the BFGs in pretty much every category, and that's the KDW2, the better tire. Here, see for yourself:

BFGs: BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

Nitto 555s: NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 Tire (275/40-17) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

And they are both essentially the same price ($168 vs $163 for a 275-40/17).

I have the Nitto 555s (255-40/17) on my car, and I absolutely love them. I have never once hydroplaned (an my car is driven in the rain quite a bit); I have over 15,000 miles and over 100 passes at the track with them, and you couldn't tell them apart from brand new. And as far as traction goes, I pulled a 2.05 60' when it was 35 degrees outside with dew on the roof of my car, through an automatic. I think that's pretty impressive.

Now don't think I'm trying to hate on the BFGs, because I've been around them all my life (truck tires), and they have always been a very good tire. And I love the tread pattern of the KDW2's!!! I'm sure that they are a great tire. But if they are better all around than the Nittos, well, I'd have to see it to believe it.

The original KDW is crap. You want the KDW2 - its awesome. The two tires perform completely differently.
