Going with a 460. I just won an auction on ebay for everything I'll need to swap. 2" to 3.5" headers, oil pan, motor mounts, gaskets, etc...

Anyway, I need to know what some good HCI combos are. This car is only for the 1/4 mile. Auto, Spool, Slicks. Not a street car.

HEADS
For heads I am NOT going aftermarket. Most likely ported D0VEs. If there is a better stock head to work with let me know.

CAM
For the cam I'd like mid-top end power. Big blocks have the low end covered so is it smarter to go with a cam and valvesprings that caters to mid/top end? Also what kind of gains do you get from going solid or roller rather than hydraulic?

INTAKE
I have no idea what to go with. What works? What doesn't? I hear a lot of people going with the Torker II intake. I want SINGLE carb. What's better between single and dual plane? What is tunnel ram and is it better?

Please, open to suggestions. I would be on bigblockfox.com asking stuff but I can't get that site to work.

BTW, trans is a C4 with JW bbf-C4 Bell, full manual vb, trans brake. Waiting until I know the engine's power-range before I get a converter.

Go to www.460ford.com , might look at the engine builds section. Also check out http://www.reincarnation-automotive.com/index.html and talk to Scott.. he has alot of iron head options, including porting one set of ports so you can match the rest. Great guy to deal with too.

Ported DOVE's should work fine. I'd recommend a Weiand Stealth for an intake. My 1969 Fastback ran 12.60's with a boneyard 429(with stock DOVE's) with a Stealth, headers, an 850 Demon, and 3.50 gears as the only mods. A Fox with similar mods plus 4.11's, a good camshaft, and ported DOVE's should easily be in the 11's.

We had a 460 bored .030 over. 466ci with aluminum Cobra Jet heads and it went 9.50's in a 2800lbs car but with stock rods going pass 7000rpm. It only lasted 6 runs. Now it's a 503ci and the car weights 2600lbs now. With the right stock parts the car should have no problem run mid to low 11's. My truck 390 goes 11.50's. I would be pushing for 10's with a 460.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I check out a lot of combos but none that jump out at me. I'm waiting to hear of a good cam/intake combo.

Should I start going straight to stroking to like 514 or so? If I did what heads go best? aluminum SCJs? What kind of cam and intake do you match with it?
