I know I'll get chewed out for not enough detail, but this could get lengthy. I have a 70 stang with a transplanted 351W. It ran real rough when I got it last fall, and the carb was cruddy, so I bought a rebuild kit and rebuilt it...seemed straight forward, but my first rebuild (it's a stock two-barrel...donor car for motor a 77 LTD). I also replaced the cap and rotor, and thought I had a clear diagram on where the wires all go. I only tried to start it once and got a horrendous BOOM that I thought came from the carb, followed by a little smoke out the carb. Thankfully I hadn't pumped the gas, or it may have caused flames. What next? Do I have a vacuum prob, or is it timing?
