OK, heres the deal, the car runs hot so i decided to wire the high side of the fan on. First I wired it to the headlights but it made them flicker on and off so then I wired it to the maf connector. Well it started up and ran fine for about 5 sec. then it just died. I unhooked the fan wire goin to it but it still won't start, it like its not getting any spark. I tryed to reset the computer but that didnt work. Also when the key is in the on position the theft light starts blinking really fast. I need help fast.Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!!
thanx,
wes

Wired it to the MAF? Ouch!!! Worst case, you may have just fried the computer.
Kinda late for this advice, but what I would have done for a car that runs hot is:
1. Replaced the thermostat with a 180 degree thermostat
2. Completely Flush and refill the cooling system with 50/50 mix of Prestone and water, plus a bottle of Red Line Water Wetter.
Hopefully someone will jump in here with advice on how to get you running again.
And, in a pinch, I would have wired the fan with a toggle switch so you could manually turn it on and off...but not on all the time. Is this what you were doing?
Best of Luck!

I also think you fried the computer. You might have fried only parts of it, there for you are still able to turn it over, but not start. The computer controls your spark, fuel, MAF, throttle control and many other things to keep it running.

I would try swapping out the MAF from another car first.
If it is the computer, then the car keys would have to be reprogrammed to the new computer. Then that would lead to going to a dealer to do the work.

Check salvage yards for some used computers. I bought one for 150.

well,i guess i am going to be calling all the junkyards tomorrow!!I just really hope that isnt it but thats what it sounds like. But why would the theft light be on?I know im askin alot of questions i am just lost!I'm guessin that maybe the computor was thinkin that someone was tryin to hotwire the car,so the safety thing came on and wont allow it to start, but i have no idea how to turn it off.Could that be possible too?I dont know much about these things.Thanx for all of the help again!!

There is some testing you can do for your MAF with a volt meter. Check your Haynes manual, chapter 6 - Emissions and Engine Control Systems. Best senario is that you just fried the MAF, worst case - you fried the computer.
In the Haynes troubleshooting section of the Haynes manual, under "Engine rotates but will not start", of the 17 possible solutions, the only one that seems to fit your situation is, "Defective MAF sensor (Chapter 6)"
