Big Problems - help please - can't get it running right

yea we lined it up, but i didn't degree it, just dot to dot - OK - now on that map sensor, WHICH (cuz there is 4 vac lines on it) is the one i must unplug?? this would be sweet if it was the last thing - would this being hooked up cause my problem?

Look at the sensor Paul -- if someone put a vacuum line on the port, just unplug it from the sensor, and temporarily plug the vacuum line with a small screw -- leaving the nipple on the sensor open to atmosphere. Then try and crank it.

And yes -- a mass air car with it hooked up to the manifold, or a Speed Density car with it NOT hooked up to the manifold will both run like crap.

....and I wouldn't get too excited -- you changed a whole bunch of stuff at once, so there's a lot that could be wrong. For the next time - ALWAYS degree the cam - it simply removes a variable when the trouble shooting starts. Did you check p to v clearance?

yea, there is 4 or 5 mechanics that we know and talked to, and w/o mentioning anything about the map sensor, we just told them what the problems we were having so they could give us their thoughts, first thing out of everyones mouth was map sensor, and second was FPregulator- the difference is, they all told me to totally unplug the map sensor all together - i'll try pluging the vac line AND the map sensor -

SD is what your car WAS so the MAP WAS pluged in both with the electrical connection and a vacline from the back of the intake to the map..now your mass air..the vac line from the intake is just capped off and the vac line on the map is left open..the electrical connection is connected.

ok - is this vac line that i have to leave open on the firewall or on the intake - pictures could help, so i know exactly what to plug off and leave open - do i leave anything open on that vac tree on the firewall? there is like 4 vac lines going to it -

Paul - you're making this more difficult than it need be. 1) Find your map sensor. 2) If it's not plugged into the harness, plug the electrical connector in. 3) If the nipple on the sensor has a vacuum line connected to it pull the vacuum line off the nipple. Leave the nipple open; plug the vacuum line (so you won't have a leak). 4) If the sensor is plugged into the harness and DOES NOT have a vacuum line on it -- then it's not the problem. Capice?

Firing order off: HO & 351 use a different firing order from the non HO engines.
HO & 351W 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
Non HO 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

#1 cylinder is the front passenger side spark plug. #5 cylinder is the front driver side spark plug.

Runs like a ****KKKKKKKKKKKINGGGG CHAMMMMMMPPP!!!!!!

Thank you all - I will post finished product pics when it's all tucked in and done - I gotta tuck up the computer, and connect AC hoses and small whatnots of the like, and -

Firing order was out - and we redid it according to the HO order, and we than disconnected the vac line from MAP sensor, and plugged it off - and adjusted the idle screw on the throttlebody - idles and runs like a champion -

Everyone... know this.... spintechs are the greatest mufflers ever lol i don't know if they sound so good cuz i'm pushin so much air through w/ my H/C/I setup, but god DAMMMMMNNNN they are ridiculously bad assssssss

Thanks again guys, you are the greatest

dude take my word for it, they are the greatest mufflers i've ever heard- and i can't believe I have them lol i prob never get sound clips, have no idea how to -

Power steering hose has a hole, so now waiting on that tommorow, and the car will get some road time - I gotta tuck the computer back up into the kickpanel, charge the ac, time it, and then it's ready to rumble, and when i say rumble, i mean, sweeeeeeeet asss sounding beast - thanks you guys are the gaskets!!!!! lol - yo i am so ****in high on glory right now lol i didn't even care about the PS hose lol i was like watever i'll replace it yea!

Now, what should my Timing be set at w/ my E cam?? 12 - 14 degrees?? I can't wait to clean the entire car n go hang out w/ these girls we been hangin out w/ in my sweet stang lol

any questions?

Paul - the E is gonna want about as much advance as you can give it -- I'd start at 16 and see if it will take 18. I think you'll find with alum. heads you'll be fine. Mine runs 16 summer/18 winter on 87 octane with no detonation.
