I'm wondering if u guys that have done a H/C/I have kept your stock maf, or do you think i will peg the stock one out....the combo will be AFR, eddie rpm, fms 24# injectors and my cam i just ordered from FTI what rpm do they typically peg out at? I will only be running the car to about 5500 rpm.. i would get a lightning maf in a second becase there only $80, but its the adapters and setting up a cai that i dont want to deal with.

Stock MAF pegged at 4400 on TFS kit, longtubes, eBay CAI, 75mm TB.

Lightning meter added with AFM powerpipe, good headroom now - sees about 3.8v.

24# injectors are close as well, but are workable - leaned the car out to 12.8ish and picked up some headroom (stock tune commanding 11.8)

Yes I ran the OEM meter for a while with 30's ... see the sig combo

I was right at the little meters limit

First of all ... I believe you will be close to the limit on those 24's

Of course ... you can do the afp thing and run elevated levels

While mechanical means may allow you to dodge a tuning bullet
for the fuel needs

What you can't do with mechanical means that I was able to do
with pcm access is cheat a bit for more head room for the OEM
meter as far as air flow capabilities are concerned

To find additional air flow for that little meter my combo produced ....
I had to cheat with pcm value manipulation by .....

loading the pcm with a different maf transfer curve
and
raising the maximum maf voltage output

All the above tells me ... You will most likely peg the OEM meter
but
If not
19's are gonna be too small anyway so a new meter its going to be :Word:

Now ... about the rpm question

Its more about air flow than rpm when talking maxing out a meter

Your real concern about going with a lightning meter would be
getting the pcm to play nice with different size inj's and the
new meter.

The adaptors and cai is nothing but simple mechanical stuff and
can be dealt with by using a bit of creativity while rummaging
around at a hardware store.

Now ... about that FTI cam

I got a bit of understanding about making one work with our cars

Lets recap your objectives for clarity

1) You wanna use the stock meter with 24's
2) You wanna use a lightning meter with 24's
3) You are gonna use an FTI cam with either 1 or 2

You are not gonna do ANY of the above with mechanical means only

My friend
IMHO ... I see a self tune or chip in your future

btw ... did you tell Ed you wanted to end the fun at 5500?
if so
Why

Ok guys thanks, i think i will just get a pro m 75mm bullit, that should be ok right, Either way the car is DEFINALY going in for a custom tune at alternative auto, (the best mustang shop in Michigan) so i have no worries of that, but now you guys have me worrying if the 24# are going to be enough

On my cam sheet I did put down i wanted power from idel to 5500, It just seemed like that's where the power will stop and i will get valve float, beyond that honestly i dont know

The 24s will be close, tough to say how well your combo is flowing. The stock tune runs the car rich -- with some tuning the car will get leaned out for more power and in doing that you'll get some injector back so to speak.

So it's a crap shoot - depends a lot on how much air you're getting in there with the cam. The tuner can pull some tricks to get a bit more out of your injectors and there is always the option of upping the fuel pressure to get some back, and that sorta stuff is what you pay a tuner for.
