Is that realistic or would I have to spend huge amounts of money to do it. I was going to do the 351 in it til i heard about other motors being able to fit.

I don't think it's too bad. I know someone personally who has a 460 in his. He's not that rich.... but I will warn you that the car is not very streetable. It shreds tires like none other!

Hopefully some peeps educated in the 460 will drop on in

You could do a 598 big block Ford..... it's a bored/stroked 460.

Yeah, we got a 510 (stroked 460) in the Fairmont Futura which is a fox body mustang. Same exact engine bay. Fits in there nice and snug.

All depends on the suspention setup and tires. You could make a top fuel 5,000hp motor stick with the right setup.

What would be a reasonable size after the 351 that could actully be done. It's mostly going to be raced on the street so with that in mind...

Not a very bright one are ya
All that aside, Dart makes a 351 block with cleavland mains that can go 4.200 on the bore. With the right stroker kit you can get 460 cubic inches out of a 351 and make 650+ hp n/a on pump gas with the right parts on top of the motor. Just a thought there street racer
mike.

alright! I get to answer one... well, engine size (302, 351, etc.) is called displacement (bore x stroke = displacement), or the total size off all of the cylinders... the bore is the diameter of the cylinder, and the stroke is the length that the piston travels.... to "stroke" an engine means to change the length that the piston travels, which is accomplished by changing crankshafts... this is how a 302 block can be "stoked" to a 347. more displacement usually means more power

Well there's a bit more to it than just multiplying the bore by the stroke.

Here's the formula:

Cubic Inch = ((Bore/2)^2) x 3.14 x Stroke x 8)

You almost plug that formula directly into an Excel spreadsheet. It's bore divided by 2, squared, times 3.14, times the stroke, times the number of cylinders.

My brother is putting a 460 in his '87 this summer. The only things you really need are the 460 engine mounts for the fox which are available in Summit and a transmission. More than likely you need to do something with the front suspension to handle the extra weight.

I heard some of the N/A Pro-5.0 cars are running 714 cubic inch motors. It's probably a custom made short block. But that's the biggest motor I ever heard.
