i think im getting bored but here goes...i have a big scratch on the bottom lip of my front bumper, deep enough to be filled at least. i have the time to tinker at the moment and was considering fixing it myself. i know the paint supply place nearby will put the correct paint in a rattlecan for you and i am starting to get ideas...i think you guys see where this is going. with the correct prep is this do-able or is the bumper too noticeable of a place to not use a gun on? how crappy would duplicolor look? let the flaming begin in 3...2...1....

I think it would be better if you got a brush on touch up paint, rather than anything in a spray can. It's be easier. You might be able to pick up a bottle from your deal for free.

The touch up from the dealer is about 5 bucks,I would mask off the bumper prep it and paint it.

when you say mask it off do you till mean with brushing it on, i used the brush touch-up before from ford and i found it hard to get it to lay down smooth, of course you color sand it but its sooo easy to burn through the thin clearcoat from the factory, which i did.

if you not that good at painting(which you burned through clear) i would maybe look for a spot painter that airbrushes and can fix the spot for you.

well im not chip foose but i wont say i dont know what im doing either...i didnt ruin the finish but i can see where the clear was getting thin, lets not pretend that ford has a million coats of clear on these cars. i have now been questioning laying down the base coat and going somewhere to get it cleared, would the base coat be ok on the trip there? what about going somewhere to get a gun, an inexpensive one that is, how big of a compressor would i need, i have one now but its small for my air tools...now im rambling...

yeah ive been trying to decide whether or not i sould try to fix a scratch on my rear bumper as well. I think its small enough to be able to use some touch up paint in a rattle can. heres a pic...what do you guys suggest?

Eric, can you provide a close up of it. I guess if ever going to repaint your bumper, I would go for it. It's hard to tell from the picture but I think that the paint around that is scratched up too, right?

i am no expert and i don't claim to be but i wouldn't try to touch up anything any bigger than a small chip if i had a new car.
