Whats the biggest tire that would fit on the stock bullet wheels. I was looking at 265 or 275, not sure if they would fit, but it seems that i would have to go to a 40 sidewall and dont really want to go any smaller than the stock 45 sidewall.
yea i dont want anyting that looks to wide for the rims. i was hoping i wouldnt have to replace the wheels right now but i guess i'll have to. the reason i wanted wider tires is im gonna be getting 4.10s soon and i know im gonna need more traction but dont want to get drag radials since its my daily driver
Hmmm did I miss the memo or something, since when are tires an appearance mod?
This thread must come up about once a week and the same old responses. I wish people would just take a minute to look at the specs that all the tire manufacturers took the time to publish on their websites. Look at any of them, even Nitto specify no wider than a 255 for a 17x8 inch rim.
I guess if all you are after is looks than who am I to argue
I really dont care about the looks that much at all, i just want the widest tire i can fit on the stock rim. I'll be happy as long as i can get good traction

I concur. It scares me how many people put 275s on an 8 inch wheel, against the recommendations of the tire shop people, who are going by the manufacturer's recommendations. Safety is one area I won't f' with. What bothers me even more are the hundreds of posts on message boards that say something like "I've had 275s on my 8-inch wheels for a couple of years now. No problems at all." Equally bothering is how many newbies take that advice and do the same. Hell, you can replace your windshield with SaranWrap and drive around the block with no problems too!
The engineers at the tire and wheel companies specify rim width minimums for a reason. SAFETY! It may not matter when your car is sitting in the driveway, but it matters when you need it most -- high speeds and cornering!
