I am considering buying a project car and it does not come with a title. I was wandering if any one over here had any experiences that could help me out. It is a 1988 gt with no engine but everything else is good and it is $450.

Thanks

you could always have the owner apply for a lost title....that is, if it's not stolen

have him contact the courthouse and see what needs to be done about getting a title. I know in alabama the last owner can apply for a "lost title" for about $30 and have it back in a few weeks

I will get a hold of him after work and see if he can do that.

I was also wandering what the gear ratio was in 1988?

2.73 is standard and the most common.

3.08's were optional for 5-spds
3.27's were optional for AOD's

Others are spot on -- have him obtain a title before any money changes hands; bill of sale is no protection at all if there is a title and it's in someone else's name (besides the guy you're "buying" it from). You simply don't know the history of the car.

I bought a volvo for 200$ BECAUSE it had no title..
I work for a valet company in new orleans that has lots of parking garages..
we just filled out some paperwork saying that it had been in the garage for the last 60 days, and viola! the company now owns the car, and sells it to me for 1$
