Black Interior Conversion Finally Done!! - PICS

wow, I just ordered new capets, headlinear, and paint 2 days ago. I dumba$$ only ordered 1 can of each cause I wanted to see how good the stuff was. Should have ordered more, oh well. I lost my license until 11/09 so I've got a lot of time to mess around with the interior. Was it hard to install the carpets? ( I'll probably post a trend when I get my things in) BTW, your interior looks really sharp, hope my interior turns out as good as yours. I might pm you when I get my stuff in for question on interior stuff if you don't mind.

The carpet wasnt to bad. Just make sure you have a sharp enough knife because you have to cut out the holes for the e-brake and shifter. This was the hardest part for me. The other problem I had was the hatch carpet ended up being too big some how. So the carpet that attaches to the back seat was about 3inches too long. I just got some velcro to hold it up. Yeah if you have any questions just ask, I also have alot more pictures you want to see anything else. Thanks,

Looks factory...actually cleaner, lol. Awesome job. :nice:

Anyone know about how difficult would it be to make a from scratch headliner...i've got a rolling shell thats only basicly missing a headliner. Its a sunroof car also. Had it for quite awhile just sitting around contemplating selling it...may just keep it and put it back together. Its a ****load of work, but i've done that much and more, lol.

The factory headliner is just cardboard with the padded material glued to it. It may take some time to get the corners right, but I'm sure it can be done. Either that or try and find one from the junkyard and cut the opening for the sunroof.

You can attach any material to the headliner with that spray adhesive. The suede I put on smoothed out real nice and I don't think there is any way its coming off.

Good Luck.

got to give you credit on this one. I've rarily seen a painted interior before that I really, really thought was good. yours definetly looks good. Nice choice with the 50resto paint. that's what I used on my 86 dash. I'd love to see more pictures.

About the headliner, What did you do? Did you glue it right to the board or did you glue it to the stock material or new foam? I want to have a black headliner in suede but I cant find suede that has the factory foam already on it.
Thanks alot,
Jesse

Mob- The insert above the arm rest is held to the door panel by peices of metal that are bent over to hold it in place. I did the same thing on my grey door panels with black vinyl.
Hope this helps
Jesse

I used adhesive spray and glued it to the old material. I got the suede at a fabric store and they just cut how many yards I wanted (which was 3 for the headliner and door panels with some to spare). Here is a pick of the headliner.
