Hi Guys,
I've seen a couple of cars which have a black panel on the back of the trunklid which runs in between the taillights. My question, is this a simple paint job, or is there an actual panel you can buy?

If so, where? Is it easy to install? Thanks!

Ah--yup! That's it. Thanks much for the link.

Question: Do you have to take off the existing GT & Ford emblems? I'm assuming you do, but can't picture on how to do it without scratching the hell out of the paint.

Thanks again!

yes, you will need to remove your stock badges. You will reuse the GT for the panel. It will contain a new ford one I believe. Just use some fishing line to remove the badges, and then some goo gone to clean up any residue.

This is how you remove the badges, as well as any decals/vynal lettering:

Get a hair dryer or heat gun to heat up the glue/adhesive tape on the badges (or lettering). Try not to heat up the car paint too much because it could bubble and ruin it (although this is hard to do with a conventional hair dryer) But anyhow, heat the back of the badges up with the hair dryer, and then use dental floss and make a 'sawing' motion with it, and 'cut' the badges off the car with the dental floss. If you are good, the combination of heating the adhesive and cutting with the dental floss will result in leaving no residue or extra layers of adhesive tape after the badge is off :) If there is excess, just heat it and rub it off.

I have personally done this to my friends Lexus IS300, no problems.
NOTE: As for getting the badges back on (or putting them elsewhere on the car for a custom look) by some more 3M adhesive tape.

Hope this helps, and goodluck :nice:

They have a good price on the honeycomb panel. And FYI the panel does NOT come with the GT or the FORD emblems. Order new emblems, they are only a few bucks and are easier to put on and look better.
The KarKraft link I posted above comes with emblems. And for less than MustangTuning.com's kit...

Hmm your right, they must have changed their kit from when I bought mine. I think the panel looks good on some cars...White/Silver/Yellow, but I dont like the way it looks on red/blue and its pointless on a black car. my .02
