Block Identity, XXX below heads, what is it

what block is this? trying to figure out if it is stock, i bought this car wiht many upgrades but takening it apart to find out what it has. below the heads where the lower intake would be is stamped XXX

hmm..the only thing on mine is the number 13 i beleive..and thats right below the drivers side Head. see if u have a # there..my friends says 21 so i dunno what it is

this is weird,
i have my lower intake off and where the pushrods and stuff goes though there on the block, not the heads, is XXX... no numbers or anything but its on both sides. anyone know?

No seriously though I think most roller 5.0's have the XXX stamp in the lifter valley.

the explorer block i have in the garage has the xxx on it also it was from a 97.if it helps any

Stock 5.0 HO blocks are designated with XXX or YYY in the lifter valley.

But really it means you got the XXX-rated **** edition block

hehe thats what i thought at first when i picked up an 88 block for my little project. but come to find out most stock blocks had XXX on them and i noticed some of the blocks they use in MM&FF for projects have teh same markings

I think the actual block casting #s are located at the back of the block,near the bottom, on the webbing that the bell housing bolts to.If I recall correctly, it will be on the passengers side.

what do the numbers on the corner of the head mean (like the drivers side front) ? just production numbers? mine say 24 does that mean use autolite 24 plugs

numbers on heads vary, more than likely they are stock e7 heads. You can use any plug you like

The #s on the corner are likely just casting #s,just to let the manufacturer know which mold the heads were cast in.
